Hey Bibliophiles,
Welcome to my blog, again! ❤
Today, I am posting a review on Savi Sharma’s book,“This Is Not Your Story”.
Blurb –
Sometimes, you do not write your story, it writes you.
You don’t choose your story, it chooses you.
But would you believe it if someone told you, ‘This is Not Your Story’?
Would you have the courage to rewrite it?
Shaurya, a CA student.
This is his story of following his dreams.
Miraya, an interior designer.
This is her story of believing in love.
Anubhav, an aspiring entrepreneur.
This is his story of giving life another chance.
After her record-breaking debut novel Everyone Has A Story,
Savi Sharma tells a transforming tale of courage, hope and self-discovery.
My Review –
Savi Ma’am has beautifully written this book, intertwining the lives of all characters with perfection. Shaurya, Miraya, Anubhav – all of them are the victims of societal oppression. And all of them sympathize with each other as share their sorrows.
Shaurya
Aspiring to be a filmmaker, Shaurya faces stiff opression from his parents, especially his father, who thinks filmmaking isn’t a great job for anyone. He reluctantly chooses being CA as his future. He is secretly in love with Kasturi, his neighbour. After being inspired by Miraya and Kasturi, along with support by Anubhav, he chooses to pursue filmmaking.
Miraya
Interior designer by profession and Kasturi’s cousin, Miraya has arrived in Jaipur to renovate Kasturi’s home. She has a troubled past, which she doesn’t want to tell anyone, including her cousin Kasturi. She is a divorced woman, being a victim of a troubled & violent marriage. She enjoys writing, and considers her diary as her best friend.
Anubhav
An entrepreneur, Anubhav began his success journey in Bangalore. But, his success journey was cut short by his parents’ death, resulting in him becoming an alcoholic and his company ousting him from his position. He came back to Jaipur to start his life afresh, but failure in do so results in him almost committing suicide, before being saved by Shaurya, Kasturi and Miraya. He falls in love with Miraya and marries her, and helps Shaurya.
The author writes this book beautifully, weaving love, pain, hope very perfectly. The emotions of the characters are portrayed very convincingly. Shaurya shines in this novel as his anger, fear, love are displayed very well. Savi Ma’am has shone once again.
Verdict –
Personally, I loved the book very much. The way the author writes is just phenomenal.
Another masterpiece by the author as she weaves her magic into her book so flawlessly. ❤
