What Did Tashi Do? – Review

Hello everyone,

I’m back after a hiatus of 2 long months. Apologies for not posting any reviews/interviews/book blitzes during the unexpected break.

Today, I’m writing the review of Anangsha Alammyan’s “What Did Tashi Do?”.

Blurb –

A beautiful woman. An anonymous stranger!

A spine-chilling nightmare that blurs the thin line between online bullying and a full-blown real-life ordeal.

Tashi Chotten is a woman from Arunachal Pradesh working and living a normal life in New Delhi. Her world turns upside down one night when she receives an anonymous email with a picture attached. Curious, she clicks on it to find that the photograph is her own – a semi-naked one she had clicked almost four years back when she was in a relationship with Akash.

Tashi’s breath catches in her throat: how could this be possible? How could an image of four years ago come back to haunt her now? Was Akash doing this to take revenge on her for dumping him? But why would he wait so long if revenge was his intention? She had so many questions she needed the answers to, but first of all, Tashi had the anonymous sender’s strange request to oblige: should she fight back or should she give him what he was demanding?

In a fast-paced, mind-numbing tale of misplaced trust and poor data security, blackmail and friendship, lust and a love that had gone cold years back, will Tashi be able to regain control over her life and win the fight against the man who seems to be one step ahead of her, no matter which direction she chooses to go?

Review –

The book is fast-paced, full of suspense and drama. Written very beautifully, the book traces the struggle of Tashi to get her integrity and respect safe from the clutches of the blackmailer, a stranger holding some semi-naked pictures of her. Tashi is shattered to the core when the blackmailer threatens her of releasing her compromising pictures on the internet and sharing them with her family and colleagues. Torn between safeguarding her respect and following the blackmailer’s demands, Tashi manages to fulfill his demands as well as register a complaint with the Cyber Cell of the Police after Manav, a friend of her, intervenes.

The book is an absolute perfect package, with no loose strings or poor writing or what other bibliophiles say, ‘poor framing’. I loved it to the core, enjoyed it and finished it in like half an hour! The author shares her own bad experience of social media in this book, although from the eyes of Tashi.

Some tense conversation between the blackmailer and Tashi grips the reader to finish the book in first read only. The book is really interesting. I won’t spill more things about the book, for you should definitely get the book to know what happened to Tashi.

Verdict –

Definitely loved and enjoyed the book. Perfect writing, easy narration, and a story that blurs the thin line between online bullying and a full-blown real-life ordeal, What Did Tashi Do? highlights the importance of security while posting pictures on social media, and the alertness to be shown while doing so. The author keeps the reader on the edge with mind-numbing and flawless writing. ❤

Definitely Recommended! ❤
